I use live black soldier fly larvae as bearded dragon food for neonates right through to adults. The larvae product comes in mixed sizes and growth stages. For babies, I will sift through and find the smallest larvae for their consumption.

Just remember the rule of thumb: food portion should not be bigger than the gap between the dragon's eyes.

Live black soldier fly larvae are higher in calcium than other feeders, increasing their potential in the prevention of MBD. No calcium dusting is required on your larvae; we recommend dusting your salads instead.

Live black soldier fly larvae are an outstanding feeder for adult bearded dragons who are breeding and for gravid females. They support strong and healthy bones for weight-bearing. The larvae assist in healthy egg/shell development and provide a nutritional balance for rearing happy, healthy embryos and neonates.

➡️ How long do they live for /life cycle before they can’t be used as live feeders?

The larvae is dispatched in mixed sizing and different stages. When kept in the right environment, the larvae will grow and turn to fly within a period of roughly 5-6 weeks, although it may take longer in cold environments or refrigeration.

Once the larvae turn into flies, they will continue to live for around 8 days.
