A morph or phase is a bearded dragon selectively bred to produce a specific scale type, visual trait, body shape or a combination of all three.
Translucent lack white pigment and their colours are more intense. As babies, their stomach appears blue or translucent, and above their eyes are shaded in a blue tint. The eye colour is generallyjet black.
Our hypo citrus trans line is considered our highest quality breeding line.
Hypomelanism simply means less melanin. It helps to understand that hypo morphs are unable to produce dark colours or patterns.
These dragons present in light pastel colouration over the body and have clear nails.
These dragons display varying shades of citrus colours ranging from soft lemony pastels to vibrantly bold yellows, oranges, tans and reds.
The citrus variety is mostly visable in hypomelanistic morphs but not exclusively.
This pattern is comparable to tiger stripes which are seen as thick, dark horizontal lines across the dragon's back that break up the base colour.
Blue and purple bars appear in light or darker shades of blue or soft lavenders. The bars are visually presented in horizontal striped patterns, where as the Dunner appear vertically.
Recognised as a standard or classic morph, the normal scale is closely compared to its wild counterpart. Standard morphs display small spikes on their back and body, have a large triangular head and the beard spikes point downwards. These dragons come in a variety of colours.
The Dunner is a dominant gene which only requires one copy to be visually present. This morph presents with different coloured patterns and scale design. The scales are conical in shape displaying in a ruggered appearance.
The Dunner beard spikes will point outward to the sides rather than downwards. The belly scales present in different directions showing a roughly disorganised manner. When the dragon is stressed, marks will appear as circles on the belly rather than the standard ovals.
The back scales are raised and textured and are often coloured individually forming intricate patterns and spots. These patterns appear in a vertical manner running from head to tail rather than the standard perpendicular stripes.
The Dunner tail is noticeably broader and is also marked with vertical lines, broken bars and spots. Another distinguishing feature is the appearance of the Dunner's feet and toes which are visably larger than a standard.
A Leatherback presents with smooth, uniform scales on the back, tail and legs and often display vivid colours on their back.
The dragons beard and head spikes run downward and the body displays one row of spikes running down each side. These spikes are limited on the rest of the body.
A Leatherback must carry one copy of the leatherback gene to be considered a leatherback. Two copies of the Leatherback gene will produce Silkbacks. This scale type comes highly recommended for children and adults who are sensitive to touch.
The Leatherback Dunner has limited spikes as a result of the leatherback trait and as a result of the dunner trait these spikes grow in different directions.
The dragon's skin texture can be described as the feeling of smooth sandpaper or rough velvet.
